QUEVEDO LAUNCHES THE FIRST BLOG FROM A PORT PRODUCER
As of October, the Port Wine producer, QUEVEDO, has created a blog with the purpose of educating and promoting port wine worldwide, especially among first time wine consumers. Through this marketing communication initiative - available in www.quevedoportwine.com - Quevedo is forming an innovative and sincere relationship with its consumers. The Quevedo blog contains a wealth of information such as the history and philosophy of the company, as well as their day to day activities. For example, the current harvest, which finished only a few weeks ago, is documented and photographed on the new Quevedo blog. The blog is also an important way to promote and advertise Quevedo’s wine abroad, as exports represent approximately 40% of the total sales of the company.
With young adults as their main target, Quevedo will post around 12 articles per month, with content related not only to their wines, but also to the wine business as a whole, including tourism, culture and gastronomy. A winery’s use of a blog to communicate their message is a growing trend in the major wine producing countries, and Quevedo is proud to be the first port wine blog in the world. Quevedo was also one of five wineries which participated in the EWBC - European Wine Bloggers Conference, which took place in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain, between the 29th and 31st of August, 2008. The blog was built in July of this year, with the collaboration of Catavino Marketing and is now presented in its final version.
Quevedo is currently growing 250 acres of vines and 50 acres of olive trees in S. João da Pesqueira, Douro, Portugal. In addition, Quevedo is now farming organic grapes in their Quinta da Trovisca vineyard, which has been documented in the blog. In the last five years, this vineyard as been replanted with traditional varietals of the Douro, such as Touriga Nacional and Sousão. Other research include the experimental plantings of the French varietal, Syrah. The founder of the company, Oscar Quevedo explains the creation of the Quevedo brand as, “suitable for the wines we produce and for the consumer we want to communicate with, as an ‘easy-drinking’ Port for modern consumers who which to enjoy an expressive wine in a relaxed and casual environment.”
We would like to invite you to visit our winery and our vineyards in the Douro valley. Go to http://quevedoportwine.com/general/bem-vindo/ and receive the welcome from the family.

Quevedo was founded in 1991 as a family owned business in the heart of the Douro valley, responding to the needs of the generations that preceded the associate founders. These ancestors were passionately dedicated to their vineyards and to the culture that surrounded the production of wine. Consequently, the company was created as a seamless marriage between the initial phase of production and the promotion and selling of their wines. Currently, the estate is comprised of 100 hectares located in the regions of Cima-Corgo and Douro Superior, producing both red and port wines from only the five traditional port grapes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Tinta Barroca.
