The Douro valley is a great place to grow grapes as well as to grow olives. Olive trees have always been planted in the Douro, in the old times were placed in the middle of the vineyards, in between the vines to better take advantage of the land. Nowadays, are planted in the edges of the vineyards or in a grove. Quevedo has always had a small number of olive trees either in the edges of the vineyards as well as in groves. Some years ago Claudia came with the idea of converting the olive production to organic farming. This idea was well received by the family and since 2006 Quevedo has been producing organic olive oil.
