Tawny Port

Tawny is the color of an owl that lives in the UK. Its feathers have a brown, brick color and so does Port when ages for some time in oak. So we name Tawny Port all Port that ages in oak and develops a nutty, caramel profile due to the slow oxidation. Port gets a Tawny character after some time in cask, meaning that they are not Tawny when they are fortified but after ageing some years. This style of Port Wine varies tremendously depending on the number of years that Port stays in cask. Tawny can be as young as five years and as old as a 40 Years Old. Here are all the styles of Tawny Port:
  • Tawny - a blend of around five years old Port; 50 ml, 750 ml, 1500 ml
  • Special Reserve Tawny - a blend of around eight years old Port; 50 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml
  • 10 Year Old Tawny - a blend of around ten years old Port; 50 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml, 750 ml decanter
  • 20 Year Old Tawny - a blend of around twenty years old Port; 375 ml, 750 ml
  • 40 Year Old Tawny - a blend of around eight years old Port; 750 ml
  • Colheita - single harvest Tawny Port
